The first step is to power off the control system, and then turn the lead screw by hand. If there is significant resistance or even no turning at all in a certain position, it indicates that there is a fault in that position. It is necessary to check whether the clearance between the screw nut and the screw or the slide insert is too tight, whether there are foreign objects in the ball guide groove of the ball screw, whether the screw is bent or deformed, and whether the flexible gear in the stepper motor reducer is loose or stuck by foreign objects.
Secondly, if the manual turning is normal, it indicates a malfunction in the control system of the CNC lathe. First, check if the connection plug of the stepper motor is in good contact. If the connection plug is in good contact, replace the faulty phase motor. If the motor is replaced and runs normally, it indicates that the original stepper motor is faulty. If the CNC lathe motor cannot work normally after being replaced, it indicates that the control part is abnormal, You can focus on checking the high-power transistor and its protective component release diode on the driver board. Generally, the probability of damage to these two components is relatively high.
